TJ Hartman with Silva Motorsports - UPDATE - Two BIG Weekends Ahead!
Knoxville, IA - August 6, 2009...
Following a decent 6th place finish at Husets Speedway in South Dakota this past Sunday, the Silva Motorsports Team got a chance to relax in Missouri with (driver)Shane Stewarts family before heading to Knoxville for the 360 and 410 Nationals. The 360 Nationals 3-day format got underway last evening with the field split into two nights of racing to qualify for Saturdays finale. Shane Stewart and the Silva Crew drew a high pill for qualifying - going out 49th of the 52 cars making an attempt. Shane ran a great lap for the track conditions, won his heat race, and led the first 10 laps before settling for 2nd in the star studded A-main event!
In TJ's words: "First I have to say I'm sorry for not getting a Husets update. I was pretty tired, and we're just having a lot of fun so I was just busy. It was relaxing hanging out with Shane's relatives in Missouri and now we're at Knoxville. It is crazy here! There are people everywhere, and it's not even the 410 Nationals yet! This time we had the car too loose for Shane, but Wayne Johnson(Thursdays winner) was pretty fast anyway. Paul and Shane know how to get this car around Knoxville, so I'm pretty sure we'll be good on Saturday. It is fun meeting new people, and also seeing people you know. I talked with Austen Wheatley last night. He qualified really good, but said this place is really hard to run because it is so fast and you have to be so smooth. I also got to finally meet Bob and Kelly Westphal(my engine builders) in person. Kelly is pretty funny. I don't think he expected me to be so skinny!"
The team will service the car today and watch the second night of Knoxville 360 Nationals qualifying from the grandstands Friday night, as they wait to see where they line up for Saturdays big event. Shane currently sits in 4th place after night one, and looks to be in good shape to win his second career Knoxville 360 Nationals.
